was first launched in 1972, it immediately captured the attention of all watch lovers in the world. There are 2 important aspect to this watch. Firstly for its truly original styling, the work of Gérald Genta, the incomparable designer who imagined its octagonal bezel, held in place by eight visible screws, and its integrated bracelet. Secondly, because the Royal Oak was the first high-end sports watch. It went against the trend and made this watch in steel, a metal that would go on to win new respect. The brand gave its Royal Oak a self-winding movement with calendar function. It took its innovative shape from a porthole on HMS Royal Oak, the ship that would also give it its name. The sunray dial in dolphin grey, with a world map created through galvanic growth, complemented by white gold markers and hands. Automatic in-house calibre LFT ST12.01, comprises 271 components. World time complication. The time is displayed through 12 rotating cubes that represent 24 time zones, with each cube showing two cities. The hour numeral adjacent to each cube indicates the local time for the respective cities, and the cubes’ two-toned coloration signifies day or night. Power reserve is 45 hrs. Limited to 50 pieces. Cased in stainless steel with interchangeable bracelet in 38mm diameter with 12.3mm thickness, unidirectional rotating bezel with two-tone blue anodised aluminium insert, domed box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, caseback engraved with diver and iceberg in relief. The dial is blue sfumato ice themed dials, applied indices and Arabic numerals at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock and hour and minute hands with white Super-LumiNova, Iced Sea logo at 6 o’clock.
