41mm in diameter -available in either titanium or steel, thickness of 13mm and a lug-to-lug measurement of 45.3mm, dual domed sapphire crystal with a hardened anti-reflective treatment, display case back. Water resistant to 100m. Dials available in black/red (Launch Edition), Coffee Black (brown gradient with gold-tone accents), or Midnight Blue (blue dial with white metal accents). Automatic Swiss-made Leica LA-3001 movement, produced by Chronode, quick-change date feature and precision regulated to -4 to +6 seconds per day. Power reserve is 60hrs. The ZM 11 uses the “Leica Easy Change” system for strap changes, allowing easy change between available bracelet, textile, or rubber strap options, each compatible with both the titanium and steel versions. The watch design is inspired by the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic coupe in Ralph Lauren’s car collection. Design cues from the dash of the 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic coupe, in elm burl wood. Case is in stainless steel, at 44.8mm. Manual winding movement which is the IWC cal. 98295 (or cal. 98300), the same movement used in the IWC Portuguese Hand Wound, power reserve at 45hours. 18k Pink gold case in 40mm with 9.6mm thickness, featuring a box-shaped sapphire crystal and a sapphire crystal caseback, water-resistant to 30m. The black dial sports a sector layout with large, applied pink gold Arabic numerals and Super-LumiNova-treated indices, ensuring visibility. Inside, the watch is powered by the automatic calibre 1326, hacking seconds, providing a 48-hour power reserve. It comes with an anthracite nubuck calfskin leather strap. Priced at €28,100
In 2004 South African born explorer Mike Horn completed a two-year, 3-month solo circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle, and in 2006 along with Norwegian explorer Børge Ousland, became the first men to travel without dog or motorised transport to the North Pole during winter, in permanent darkness. Of course, a watch with a Quartz movement would simply freeze, he relied on his PAM92 to navigate in such extreme conditions. Anti magnetism with soft iron inner case, water resistance to 300 meters, capable to resist extreme temperatures down to –70° (whereas the oils used in a normal watch would fail at –30°); the Arktos can also be used as a compass.
