In physics, resonance is a phenomenon in which a vibrating system or external force drives another system to oscillate with greater amplitude at specific frequencies. This watch takes advantage of this physics phenomenon and made two resonating balances to offer better stability of rate and higher precision; connected by the patented clutch spring. This unique piece places the emphasis on the watch’s most remarkable feature: the visible dual balances oscillating in resonance. The yellow gold plating and the special matt decoration finish are highlighting the vintage style of this timepiece. The dial offers two “Email Main Grand Feu” subdials for time displays: Roman numerals dominate the off-center subdial displaying hours and minutes in black with steel hands, while a classic railroad track marks the exact minutes. The smaller subdial at 7 o’clock displays seconds using only a baton-shaped hand and a simple track. Grade 5 Titanium case in 42mm, thickness is 16mm. It has a unique date display at 5 o’clock, and a very interesting Memo function to remind the wearer of a single event daily. One of the main focus here is the replacement of the traditional Swiss lever escapement with the Blade Resonator; which is incredible at reducing friction. The hairspring itself is replaced by a short spring shaped like a bow, on the outside of the blade resonator. This short spring pivots between two opposing blade edges, making a very low angle oscillation, the friction generated is very low; which means power efficiency is very high. This system is completely new and will make revolutionary changes to the industry. Low amplitude (30°) with high frequency (5Hz) offers great accuracy, in fact Renaud believes it can achieve far superior accuracy than COSC. Using a standard mainspring, it can achieve an incredible power reserve of 14 days. The case is made of titanium C shape and the movement is housed in a sapphire cylinder that can rotate 360°, allowing the wearer to choose which part of the watch to admire. Unique piece. 18k white gold case in 43.5mm. Manual winding tourbillon movement, completely handmade. The Hand Made 1 has been entirely created from scratch. The movement construction, traditional machining and hand-finishing specialists reflected at length on each of the 272 movement components and 36 case parts. In fact, this is an entirely handmade timepiece, from the movement to the case, to the leather strap, the dial and the hands -the only exceptions being the sapphire crystals, the case gaskets, the spring- bars, the jewels, and the mainspring. To achieve the 95% handmade level more than 6,000 hours of work for one single timepiece. To obtain the 308 components of the Hand Made 1 respecting Greubel Forsey criteria, over 800 individual parts had to be made. It took 35 times longer to make the complete tourbillon cage than for a standard high-end tourbillon. When just a dozen operations on an automatic lathe effortlessly yield some 500 screws, a single screw, as small as it may be, requires up to 12 individual operations taking up to 8 hours to make just one. 42mm case, the case middle and lugs made of grade 5 titanium and bezel and caseback made in platinum. The heart at 6 o’clock is formed by an intersection of the two skulls on the dial : framing a red gem in the center of the hidden tourbillon cage. Visible only when the slider of the repeater is activated, the chimes of the minute repeater carillon sound while another mechanism simultaneously separates the two skulls to reveal the tourbillon. 2022 marks the 10th anniversary for SevenFriday and they are celebrating this special occasion with a new watch release, the Free-D. SevenFriday calls the Free-D a marriage between the long standing traditions of horology and the present developments combined in 3D printing. “With the help of HP’s modern technology, the Free-D maximizes wearing comfort : light, flexible but nonetheless resistant, its design is cutting edge, to say the least.” The watch is almost entirely made from a sustainable polyamide material called PA11. PA11 is a castor oil-based polyamide that is both organic and sustainable. The watch case design is quite unique, using the PA11 material to encase the titanium pod, which is constructed with a domed sapphire crystal, creating a capsule, the result is a very light product (at approx. 81g complete with the strap and buckle). The movement, a Swiss made Sellita SW300-1 displaying time in a non traditional way, using discs to show seconds, minutes and hours, is encased inside a grade 5 titanium pod, the frame (that cradles the pod) is cutting edge, digital manufacturing with Hewlett-Packard Multi jet fusion 3D Printing solutions, this material is sustainable and light. Even the strap is carrying the same concept and design, combining the PA11 cradle construction blend with leather, making this watch a totally new experience, unlike anything else on the market. Attention to detail is evident right down to the box, using the same 3D printing method, the box is printed in 1 single sequence, something amazing to behold. The watch dimension is equally non-traditional, with the pod being 44.8mm in diameter, the cradle is measured at 52.8mm (I assure you the whole watch feels more like a 46mm in a traditional sense).
