Platinum / Titanium case in 45mm. Automatic calibre UN-25X, featuring UN Grinder concept; high 12Hz frequency with NeXt 3D Flying oscillator and Ulysse anchor escapement. The “Grinder” uses the smallest of wrist movements. The oscillating weight is connected to a frame carrying four clicks or blades, which gives the self-winding system twice the angular stroke (like a bicycle fitted with four pedals instead of two). About the escapement and balance : the idea of this regulating organ is to eliminate the axis of the balance wheel in order to create a virtual pivot point. This is a radical development that hugely improves the traditional principle of balance spring regulation introduced in the 17th century. This was achieved by removing the need for a pusher when using the time zone function: the grade-5 titanium rotating bezel is actually set on ball bearings, allowing easy adjustment when the wearer is setting a time zone. The rotating bezel also has a wheel connected to the movement which directly manipulates the hour hand, increasing time-setting accuracy and speed. Raúl Pagès was the restorer at Parmigiani whom worked on the original Breguet Symphatique clock, he also worked on numerous restoration projects on automatons. Not long ago, he started his own workshop, continuing restoration projects for museums and private collectors. He also created his own automaton; the mechanical tortoise (will show this later). This year (2016), he released his first wrist watch – . The watch features a robust vintage 1950’s Cyma 586k caliber. All the bridges and balance have Raúl’s personal touch. Soberly Onyx, obviously has a black onyx dial, with handmade 18ct white gold indexes; hardened steel hands all done by hand work. I was told that the design of the watch was heavily influenced by the Art Deco style.
