The watch was developed in partnership with brand ambassador and record-breaking explorer Ben Saunders. Endurance is based on the Supermarine with new features. 24-hour GMT and a compass bezel for navigation, make this an absolute essential tool watch. Ben Saunders developed this watch for his Trans-Antarctic Solo Expedition. This is the second collaboration with Saunders; the first joint effort was back in 2014 with the Terra Nova. - The watch is a world time display, shown at the two turning domed hemisphere globes at 6 and 12 o’clock, which are surrounded by a fixed scale with the 24 time zones and include a day/night blue indicator that has been coated in rhodium (for both the Northern and Southern hemispheres).

In 2004 South African born explorer Mike Horn completed a two-year, 3-month solo circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle, and in 2006 along with Norwegian explorer Børge Ousland, became the first men to travel without dog or motorised transport to the North Pole during winter, in permanent darkness. Of course, a watch with a Quartz movement would simply freeze, he relied on his PAM92 to navigate in such extreme conditions. Anti magnetism with soft iron inner case, water resistance to 300 meters, capable to resist extreme temperatures down to –70° (whereas the oils used in a normal watch would fail at –30°); the Arktos can also be used as a compass. The Luminor Arktos was released in 2004 (limited 500pcs)

- Created in 2019 for the American explorer and photographer Cory Richards as a prototype watch, this year Vacheron brought that prototype into production, the Everest Dual time.

- Fred Lip created this Himalaya model in 1954.
