Ressence Type 2 e-Crown concept (2018)

Ressence introduces the E-Crown at the SIHH 2018. It’s probably the most interesting launch this year. Here is how Ressence describe their E-Crown : “We took everything back to the drawing board to create revolutions in convenience and performance for fine-watchmaking enthusiasts. e-Crown® is a cutting-edge electro-mechanical embedded system that interfaces the mechanical base movement with the in-house ROCS module. It never interferes with the gear train from the barrel to the hands. e-Crown® replaces the traditional crown’s setup functions of a mechanical watch and takes fine-watchmaking to the next level.” Basically, it’s a total self-contained system that utilities kinetic and solar power to drive the setting mechanism. To activate the system, simply tap on the sapphire. Otherwise; the watch functions as any other mechanical watch. The E-Crown can check the accuracy of you watch against a reference time, holds two time zone and even keeps the accuracy when the watch has stopped. No batteries required.
