Naoya Hida & Co. Type 5A (2024) and Type 5A-1 (2025)

Both use the same 26mm wide x 33mm long stepped rectangular case in brushed and polished 904L steel, measuring 43.5mm with lugs and 9.1mm thick, water resistant to 30m. The Type 5A is fitted with a two-part three-dimensional box-shaped sapphire crystal, while the Type 5A-1 uses a specially moulded curved acrylic crystal. The dials are two-part grained German silver with hand-engraved indexes filled with black cashew lacquer, hand-polished Dauphine hands with a concave cross-section, and a blued steel small-seconds hand. The Type 5A uses Arabic and triangular indexes, while the Type 5A-1 adopts Breguet-style numerals chosen to work with the different optical character of the acrylic crystal. Movement is the calibre 2524SS, hand-wound, shaped, 19 jewels, with large handmade stripes and polished bevels, beating at 21,600vph. Power reserve is 38hrs.
