Omega Speedmaster Alaska Project (2008)
In 2008, Omega made the Speedmaster Moonwatch Alaska Project : a “re-issue” Speedmaster from the past. The original Omega Speedmaster Alaska Project was from 1969/1970, later there was the Speedmaster Alaska Project II watch. The 2008 re-issue piece is a combination from both the original and the second gen. An important note is that the original Alaska Project watches were produced as five prototype watches at the request of NASA who wanted a design to incorporate heat reflective design. NASA was also had planned a mission to the dark side of the moon (but it didn’t happen) where temperatures are much colder
